PATAKA BOYS – “BLACK SABBATH”

PAV4N, Sonnyjim and Kartik are Pataka Boys, presenting the music video for “Black Sabbath”, the latest single from Thugs From Amritsar, their new album out now on Azadi Records featuring guest appearances from Heems (formerly of Das Racist), Seedhe Maut, M.O.N.G.O of Mud Fam, Juss Nandhra and Sikander Khalon. A reference to the heavy metal group hailing from Sonnyjim’s UK hometown of Birmingham, the “Black Sabbath” clip comes on the heels of videos for previous Amritsar singles “Guddi Check” (watch the music video on Youtube), “Bappi Lahiri” (watch the music video on Youtube) and “Megaloblast” (watch the music video on Youtube). Elder statesmen in the UK rap arena, rappers PAV4N, and their album guests rap in English, Punjab and Hindi about their lives at the intersection of hip-hop and the Indian diasporic experience. PAV4N and Sonnyjim voyaged across India to bring Amritsar to life, cutting records and shooting videos in the executive suite of the Taj Mahal, the jungle in Goa, and temples in Amritsar. The album is the first full body of work from Kartik, a young producer from Punjab who weaved soul samples and soundbites from classic Punjabi cinema and folk records on a broken laptop as he travelled between hospital waiting rooms, taxis and his parents’ home. PAV4N is a founding member of London rap crew Foreign Beggars who has worked with Skrillex, Steve Aoki, Knife Party, DJ Vadim, Amp Fiddler and Sez On The Beat (watch the official video for “Karma”). Sonnyjim has collaborated with MF DOOM, Jay Electronica, Westside Gunn, Conway, DJ Premier, and Madlib z(watch the video for “Barz Simpson” with MF DOOM & Jay Electronica). Thugs From Amritsar is out now on Azadi Records, the premier record label for authentic hiphop in India.
